How to get to Antigua Guatemala From the Capital City of Guatemala you must follow highway CA-1, taking the Calzada Roosevelt. Once on the highway you will find a watching site on your left, where on weekend afternoons, Guatemalans and tourists usually stop by and taste typical foods while they take a look at the landscape. A little further on the highway you will get to San Lucas Sacatepéquez, which is easily recognized for its commerce and gas stations. At the end of that straight, passing under the bridge, turn right and follow the road that will take you directly to La Antigua without any detours. It is a total of 45 kilometers.
From Quetzaltenango and Atitlán (Sololá) If you come from Quetzaltenango or Atitlán, using the InterAmerican Highway CA-1 you will find a turn to the right where Chimaltenango meets with San Lucas, Sacatepéquez.
From the south of Guatemala If you travel from the south of Guatemala, that is Escuintla towards north via CA-9, on the highway you will find the signs that will take you to the Colonial City. You will pass in front of the Autódromo Los Volcanes(racetrack), then through Ciudad Vieja and finally arrive to your destination.
Recommendations You can board buses and taxis for tourists right on the same airport La Aurora, or else go directly to 18th street and 6th avenue of zone 1 to take an extra-urban bus. For your own security and to avoid congestions you can also board the bus on its path through Calzada Roosevelt. We recommend the bus stop located in front of Peri Roosevelt, which is commonly used by those who wish to travel to La Antigua; but on this spot, buses already bring certain amount of passengers which can make your trip a little uncomfortable.
